The X-102 was the first IOR yacht ever released by X-Yachts. It started with the MK 1 in 1981 followed by the MK 2 in 1983. In total, not more than 173 of them were built until end of production in 1987. The X-102 was primarily meant as a fast and comfortable cruiser/racer. She won the 3/4 ton cup both in 1981 and 1982. In 1982 she also won the 3/4 ton cup in cowes over various top trimmed Dehler DB1's as well as some fast One Off's. In 1996 the Dutch sailor Harry Vogel crossed the Atlantic single handed in his X-102 as a participant of the OSTAR race. From a racing point of view, the X-102 has some exceptional sailing characteristics, its forte being windward work and light winds. The boat is very responsive to rudder and sail trim, almost dinghy like. The X-102 is both stiff and dry. The engine is located just behind the mast which is an aluminium racing type from NORDIC. Wheight in bow and stern is reduced to a minimum by omitting unneeded interior in these areas. The 1600kg cast iron keel is mounted in a steel frame and makes the boat stiff and seaworthy. Furthermore this X-102 underwent a unique modification which makes her even faster than her sisters. For example the interior in the aft was replaced by 4 pipe births. Fuel and water tanks were moved to the aft to improve weight distribution. The winches for handling the running back stays were moved forward to the cockpit for easier handling. The standard rig was replaced by a racing rig (standing rigging has been renewed in 2015 as well as the spinnacker pole) and additional genoa rails were installed to improove sail trim. Forward triangle berth, mahagoni cabin table and mahagoni cupboards offer comfort for family cruising and are easy to remove for racing. Sail wardrobe from North Sails in good condition. She is ready for sailing anytime.
